Castlehill Enhanced Learning Resource (ELR) is part of Castlehill Primary School. It has evolved since it was opened as a Language and Communication Resource in 1998 and provides full time support for pupils with a range of additional support needs from the Bearsden and Milngavie area.
Castlehill promotes an ethos of inclusion for all pupils. All teachers will adapt and differentiate approaches in order that pupils are challenged appropriately. ELR pupils are included in mainstream classes and experiences according to the individual abilities, interests and needs of the children. Intensive focus within the ELR ensures barriers to learning are addressed, with programmes tailored to meet the needs of individual pupils in a small group setting with high levels of adult support and teacher pupil ratios of 1:6. A recent development is the addition of an Early Years Assessment Class to ensure early intervention and support for preschool pupils.
